Kyrö Whisky Experience
Kyrö Whisky Experience
Kyrö Distillery Company has opened a new experiential space at Helsinki Airport called the Kyrö Whisky Experience. This space, located in the Avolta Helsinki Duty Free store, offers customers the opportunity to explore the company’s products through the olfactory sense – through scent.
This innovative experience allows visitors to sample the aromas of Kyrö’s spirits in the form of mist, adding a new dimension to the sensory experience. Known for its award-winning products, Kyrö Distillery now provides travellers with a unique way to discover the aromatic profiles of their offerings while shopping at the airport.
"We want to offer something new and different to all airport customers and visitors. The experiential whisky space means that visitors can explore our various whiskies by taking in their aromas in the form of a mist. The technique used is an ultrasonic vaporizer, which transforms the liquid into a cool cloud. The spirit and essence of our rye whiskies can be experienced through their aromatic scents, helping customers find the most appealing option to take with them on their journey," says Mikko Koskinen, Marketing Director of Kyrö Distillery Company.
To their knowledge, nothing like this has been done before in Finland.
"Although Finland's alcohol advertising legislation limits our ability to fully serve consumers in this context, we have found a way for them to experience the product before making a purchasing decision. Whiskies are valuable investments, and this helps reduce uncertainty, especially for foreign travelers who may not be as familiar with the brand."
The design of Kyrö Distillery's whisky space involved internationally acclaimed designer Mikko Laakkonen, who says, "Kyrö's story started in a sauna, and in this space, we’ve incorporated natural elements of the brand – such as the sauna stove and steam – so that they are seamlessly integrated into the product experience."
The Kyrö Shop will be part of the Avolta Helsinki Duty Free store from the beginning of September until the end of the year.
